Toe walking refers to a condition where a person walks on his or her toes, or the ball of the foot. This condition is commonly observed in children who are just beginning to walk. Most children learn to walk normally as they grow older; but those who do not adopt normal walking patterns should consult Dr. Radovic.
Different factors may contribute to toe walking. One type of toe walking is habitual or idiopathic, in which case the cause is unknown. Equinus deformity, where the Achilles tendon is shorter than normal, is another cause of toe walking that is usually related to a neurological or muscular disorder.
